As a matter of fact, there have even been languages of flowers. Floral bouquets evoke such powerful emotions that people in many cultures have designed elaborate symbolic systems where this or that blossom takes on a certain meaning. One flower might be warning someone away from potential danger, whereas another one might be beckoning them as an ally or a love interest. These flower languages vary from culture to culture and time to time, but the very fact that they were fully developed is fascinating.

Personally, I've been into flower design ever since I was a kid. When we were setting dinner, I always tried to get the job of going out into the garden and cutting flowers. Of course, I liked the fact that it was easy. It was less work than, say, putting out plates and forks, and it was a lot more fun. Beyond that, however, I liked being able to choose from the different blooms. Depending on my mood, I would take shy buds barely in bloom or lush, overripe flowers bursting with color. Even at that tender age I already had a sense for flower design.

Of course, between arranging a bouquet and mastering the fine art of flower design lies a whole range of elaborate and difficult knowledge. Designing flowers is no easy task, and not everyone can do it. You need to be able to sense the precise ripeness of every flower blossom, how it interacts with the rest of the composition, who it appeals to, and where you can source it from. It is a combination of art, economics, botany, and poetic inspiration. Still, if you can master the difficult art of flower design, The rewards are endless. After all, nothing can bring joy to you and your loved ones Like the warmth of a perfectly arranged bouquet of flowers.
