You don’t have to have anything illegal to want to have hidden compartments in your home. If you have never seen what someone breaking into a house can do, you probably already have a good idea of why having hidden compartments is a great idea. Even though strangers tearing up your home is heartbreaking, and costly, it is even worse if they get their hands on the things that mean the most to you. They can find some hidden things, but if you are creative, they won’t find the things that you hold dearest to your heart.

These hidden compartments should not be put in behind pictures, or more obvious places that you have seen. Instead, you have to get creative. You can even have a company come in to help you pick out what would be the least obvious spots for hidden compartments. I have seen them that were hidden so well that I am not sure the homeowner would have been aware of them if they had not be put them in. These can be in the trim around the house, the fireplace mantle, or worked into larger pieces of furniture.

Once you have decided to get hidden compartments, be sure they are big or small enough to hold what you have. You may only need small ones, and those are the best. The things you want to put into them are up to you, but most put important financial papers and very valuable jewelry in them as well. The things that mean the most to you, and are almost impossible to replace should be the first things that you put into any hidden compartments that you may have. It can be a pain to keep them there if you use them all of the time, but if you have a break in, you will think it was one of the smartest decisions that you ever made.
